Cod Fried Fish and Chips Recipe

Crispy fried cod is served with homemade potato fries in this classic dish. Ideal for a hearty and filling meal.

Ingredients

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: 30 minutes
  • Total Time: 45 minutes

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into fries.
  • Spread the fries on a baking sheet and toss them with 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, turning once halfway through.
  • Make 2-inch pieces out of the cod fillets.
  • Combine the flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and thyme in a shallow dish.
  • Whisk together the milk and egg in a separate shallow dish.
  • Place the breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.
  • Dredge the cod in the flour mixture, then in the milk mixture, and finally in the breadcrumbs.
  • In a large skillet, heat the remaining vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  • Fry the cod for 3-4 minutes per side in the skillet, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Serve the fish and chips immediately, with fries on the side.
