- Meanwhile, prepare the haddock batter.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper in a large mixing bowl.
- Whisk in the egg and cold water until smooth.
- Dip the haddock fillets into the batter, coating them completely.
- Heat enough oil to coat the bottom of a large frying pan over medium heat.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through, until the haddock fillets are golden brown and cooked through.
- Prepare the tartar sauce while the haddock is cooking.
